Annual Briefing for Principals and Headmasters of the 88 Smart Schools
The Annual Briefing was held on 26th to 29th February, 2008 at Sheraton Imperial Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. Below is the collection of slides presented by the speakers in the Annual Briefing:

Professional Development Programmes
The Professional Development Programmes aim to enhance skills for the optimization of ICT among practitioners. There were three (3) training programmes conducted:
  • Bengkel Pengembangan Professional Bagi Ketua Panitia Pendidikan Islam dan Geografi , 27th March 2007 at Concorde Hotel, Shah Alam
  • Bengkel Program Pengembangan Professional Bagi Ketua Bidang Matematik, Sains, Bahasa Melayu dan Bahasa Inggeris Bagi Pemantapan 88 Sekolah Bestari, 11th March 2007 at Concorde Hotel, Shah Alam
  • Bengkel Program Pengembangan Professional Bagi Ketua Panitia Pendidikan Islam dan Geografi Bagi Pemantapan 88 Sekolah Bestari, 25th - 27th June 2007 at Holiday Inn, Glenmarie, Shah Alam

In addition, 6 training modules for the integration of ICT-based content in teaching and learning were also developed: BM, English, Maths, Science, Islamic Education & Geography.

Impact:
Teachers will be equipped with the necessary skills and competency to optimize ICT integration in the teaching and learning (T&L).

Workshop for Professional Development of 88 Malaysian Smart School Panel Teachers
On the 18th to 20th December a workshop on the professional development for teachers of different subject committees for reinforcement of 88 smartshools was held at two different locations. Teachers from the English Mathematics and Science Committees had their workshop at the Renaissance Hotel Kuala Lumpur,while the workshop for the Bahasa Melayu Committee was held at the Holiday In, in Glenmarie.

The workshop was successful in initiating the sharing of teachers' experiences on the Integration of Softwares with teaching and learning methods. Lectures, discussions and debate on this were also carried out. The participants also obtained hands-on training on the On-line Monitoring System of Smartschools conducted by OneStop DotCom Sdn. Bhd.

Workshop on Professional Development For "On-Site" Implementation And Monitoring In 88 Premier Smart Schools
A three day workshop on Professional Development For "On-Site" Implementation And Monitoring In 88 Premier Smart Schools was conducted on 14-16th November 2006, involving Lecturers of Teaching Institutions, Senior Assistants 1 of Schools, as well as PSPN and JPN Officers. The workshop, facilitated by Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), proved to be most constructive. The participants were given a presentation on Smartschool Instruments as well clarification on the Instrument Project Scheduling. Matters discussed during the workshop were as follows:

  • Instrument Development Projects
  • Instrument Refinement Projects
  • Coordination of Instrument Projects and the Role of Lecturers of Teaching Institutions

OneStop DotCom Sdn Bhd was also present to provide clarification on the On Site monitoring system. They also provided a hands on session for the use of the On-Line monitoring system.

Majlis Pelancaran Program Pengembangan Professional Bagi Bimbingan dan Pelaksanaan dan Pemantauan Secara 'On-Site' dan 'On-Line' 88 Sekolah Bestari Malaysia
Technical Revitalisation Workshop for Coordinating Teachers and Technicians of 88 Premier Malaysian Smart Schools
On 9-11th November 2006 , Coordinating Teachers and Technicians from 88 premier Smartschools in the country converged at the Equatorial Hotel, Bangi Selangor for a two day workshop. The participants had an enjoyable and fruitful gathering in the endeavour to strengthen and revitalise technical capabilities. The following activities were carried out to this end:

  • brainstorming session on On-Line Monitoring Methods
  • hands-on session on On-line monitoring of smartschool implemenatations, and
  • Onsite Development and Monitoring were also discussed

Program Pemantapan 88 Sekolah Bestari
Workshop for 88 Malaysian Smart School Principals and Headmasters
A workshop was held from 11 to 13 June 2006 at Summit Hotel, USJ Selangor to revitalize the 88 Malaysian Smart School. The workshop was co-organized by MoE's Education Technology Division and attended by 88 Malaysian Smart School Principals and Headmasters as well as representatives from various departments of MoE's Education Technology Division. The objectives of the workshop are as follows:

  • To make the Principals/Headmasters champions of the Malaysian Smart School.

  • To inform Principals and Headmasters the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

  • To develop a doable action plan for each of the 88 Smart Schools.
